“ New” Sisterhood President
I am honored to once again be the president of Rodef Sholom Temple Sisterhood! Much has changed since I was first president in 1984, but what hasn’t changed is the important role that Sisterhood plays in the life of the congregation. From the Oneg Shabbat refreshments and Shabbat Kiddush luncheons that we provide, to the scholarships we give to our children for camp and Israel, as well as running the Sadye Nachman Library and publishing the yearly New Year’s Greeting Book, Sisterhood members are involved in all areas of the congregation’s life.
Please watch your mail (both “snail” mail and e-mail) for the announcement of a planning/brainstorming meeting in mid-July. It is my hope to come up with programs that will interest a broad range of Sisterhood members and be fun and informative, too, as well as have our traditional Sisterhood Shabbat and Torah Fund brunch. And in honor of our 80th anniversary as a member of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (one of the oldest in Seaboard Region!), we will have a special event this year. I hope every member of the congregation will join us.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas for programs or activities. Since I’ll be away a large part of this summer, doing research for an essay to be published later this year, the easiest way to reach me will be via e-mail:. I look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome:
We are part of the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ), the largest synagogue based women’s organization in the world. As an active arm of the Conservative/Masorti Movement, WLCJ provides services to 700 affiliated women’s groups in synagogues across North America. This network links 120,000 women in 25 Branches (regions), together with groups in Israel, Great Britain and South America.
The Rodef Sholom Temple Sisterhood is located in Hampton, Virginia and serves the needs of the Hampton Roads Penninsula Conservative Jewish community. We are part of the Seaboard Branch of Women's League.
Through our volunteer programs and projects geared toward education, religious observance, Israel, and public policy and advocacy, expand your knowledge and commitment to Judaism, participate in contemporary issues, and support Jewish ideals worldwide.
