Somehow, every year, the High Holy Days catch most of us by surprise. But we don’t have to wait for Rosh Hashanah to start thinking about the meaning of the High Holy Days: we have the month of Elul, the month before Rosh Hashanah, when we can begin to “wake up” and consider the year that’s passed and the year to come.
One of the traditions of the month of Elul is the blowing of the shofar at weekday services, and this year, so that we all have the opportunity to hear the shofar at least once before Rosh Hashanah, Rodef Sholom Temple invites you to come to the RST parking lot to hear it, beginning on Thursday, August 20th, at 5:30 p.m.! At the same time, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up either a bag of brownies and cookies or a meal, both prepared by our outstanding chefs, Evelyn and Richard Mason. The details of the program are below. We hope to see you there!
It’s Easy! Drive up, pick up your food, park, and listen to the shofar.
When entering the campus, all cars will be directed to the pick-up location; You’ll receive the bag of food in a safe manner; proceed to the parking lot and park in the indicated spot and hear the shofar. Masks & social distancing required.
**RSVPs are mandatory for both desserts and meals. Maximum of 50 (adult size only) meals will be available, meals are first-come, first-served. All RSVPs for the food must be received by Friday noon preceding the Thursday shofar blowing.
