Services

Join Us at Services

Our services are egalitarian and participatory. All members have the opportunity to read Torah, lead services, and receive Aliyot. Shabbat is welcomed with a festive Kabbalat service and Oneg Shabbat. After Saturday services, a Kiddush luncheon is sponsored by Sisterhood or congregants. Our innovative Shabbat School program each month encourages the participation, by leading various parts of the service in small groups, of our children ages 3 through 10th grade.

Morning services are held Monday and Thursday at 7:45, followed by breakfast where everyone can relax and “schmooze” prior to work or play. If you would like to sponsor a breakfast, please call the office at 757-826-5894. We will meet in our new synagogue dedicated in May 2018: 401 City Center Blvd. Newport News, VA 23606.

Congregational dinners provide opportunities to experience Shabbat and holidays as a community.

Shabbat morning services begin at 9:30 a.m and conclude around 11:45. Afterward, join us for a Kiddush luncheon sponsored by Sisterhood or congregants.

Morning Minyan:

Morning services are held Monday and Thursday at 7:45, followed by a breakfast where everyone can relax and “schmooze” prior to work or play.

Holiday Services: Check your emails and this site for start times of the various holiday services throughout the year.

If you are joining us for the first time (or for the first time in a long time), we do ask that you let us know in advance that you are coming. We want to welcome you to the Temple, but the safety and security of our congregants and facility is an important part of our operations. Please call at (757) 826-5894.

All services:

Our services are egalitarian and participatory. Lots of singing encouraged. All members have the opportunity to read Torah, lead services, and receive Aliyot. Our prayerbook is liberally transliterated for those who are just beginning to read Hebrew. You will feel welcomed.

Sponsorships: Sponsoring a minyan breakfast or a Shabbat luncheon is a great way to honor a special someone or event, or to remember a loved one in a communal fashion. Please call the office at 757-826-5894 so that we can share these important times together.
