Join Us at Services

If you are joining us for the first time (or for the first time in a long time), we do ask that you let us know in advance that you are coming. We want to welcome you to the Temple, but the safety and security of our congregants and facility is an important part of our operations. Please call at (757) 826-5894.

All Services

Our services are egalitarian and participatory. Lots of singing encouraged. All members have the opportunity to read Torah, lead services, and receive Aliyot. Our prayerbook is liberally transliterated for those who are just beginning to read Hebrew. All are welcome.

Shabbat Services:

Shabbat is welcomed each Friday evening with a festive Kabbalat service followed by an Oneg Shabbat (light refreshments). Unless otherwise noted, the service begins at 6:00 p.m. But join us from 5:30 for shmoozing and light noshes. Once a month, we have a themed congregational dinner instead of the Oneg.

Shabbat morning services begin at 9:30 a.m and conclude around 11:45. Afterwards, we have a communal Kiddush (dairy lunch) and look forward to chatting and sharing a meal with you! Once a month, we have a “Shabbat Schmooze” where the Rabbi, a member of the community or a special guest will lead learning after the Kiddush lunch.

Each month we have a Shabbat School program that encourages our children ages 3 through 10th grade to participate and lead various parts of the service in small groups.

Morning Minyan:

Morning services are held Monday and Thursday at 7:45, followed by a breakfast where everyone can relax and “schmooze” prior to work or play.

Holiday Services: Check your emails and this site for start times of the various holiday services throughout the year.

Meal Sponsorships: Sponsoring a minyan breakfast or a Shabbat luncheon is a great way to honor a special someone or event, or to remember a loved one in a communal fashion. Please fill out an interest form or call the office at 757-826-5894 to arrange.

Virtual Services: All services are livestreamed and can be joined virtually. This is a great option if you are unable to come in person or if you want to get an introduction to them. If you would like to join our services via Zoom, please contact us for the link.
